His own blood, spattered, dripped and drawn out has in many paintings been the only media and has made a powerful poetic statement - now it seems he is moving on and leaving the disturbing practice behind as he develops as an artist and experiments with new techniques and media - while there are traces and some smears of the artist's blood in his recent work, along with the fragments of verse, sketches and use of spray paints there is a very obvious and welcome introduction of colour apparent in some of the recent canvases.

Pure Blood - Paintings by Peter Doherty in his own blood
Peter Doherty has increasingly been recognized for his art work since 2003 - he has used collages of objects trouvees, photographs and sketches throughout his journals and notoriously his own blood in the autobiographical paintings for which he has increasingly made a name for himself in the art world - in exhibitions at the Bankrobber and Cob galleries in London and in a Paris show two years ago.
